Eyüpspor was founded in 1920 in the Eyüp district of Istanbul. The club takes its name from Eyüp Sultan and started as a local football team. In its early years, Eyüpspor competed in amateur leagues before transitioning to a professional level.
Eyüpspor's brightest period came in the 1970s. During this time, the club won the Turkish 1st League in the 1970-1971 season, achieving significant success. This victory is regarded as one of the most important moments in the club's history.
